We moved to High Rother in Spring 2007. The architect-designed house is built on a sloping site to take advantage of the stunning views over the Weald. It was only completed in 2006 and is a complete novelty for us as we moved from a two hundred year old cottage! We have two bed and breakfast bedrooms, both en suite and both with their own private terrace - ideal for breakfast and tea in fine weather, or enjoying a glass of wine and the views before heading out to supper in the evening. We have given our rooms an Eastern flavour with traditional Indian and Chinese furnishings and textiles. Our aim is to offer the very best of everything from stylish and comfortable beds and Egyptian cotton bed linens to flat screen televisions, DVD players and Pure digital radios, to locally-sourced, delicious breakfasts. The house is less than five minutes walk from Christopher Lloyd's garden at Great Dixter, and less than 30 minutes' drive from the world famous Sissinghurst garden, designed by Vita Sackville-West. The historic towns of Rye and Battle are very close by as is the sandy beach at Camber with its beautiful dunes. Further afield, London is just over an hour away by train.
